The project aims at developing submersible pumps for groundwater extraction in remote areas based on photovoltaics. Thus, the self-sufficient power supply for water delivery systems is more environmentally friendly, more efficient and independent of expensive fuels – currently, diesel generators are frequently used for power supply. The project therefore focuses on research and development of a new generation of highly efficient and application-optimized power electronic modules for compact pump systems for water extraction in conjunction with optimally adapted photovoltaic power supply. As a result, water supply especially in rural areas could be improved, and is independent of fossil fuels.
