The dispersing quality of polymer compounds represents an essential quality criterion in the field of plastic processing. In practice offline methods of analysis are common, which are labor- and time-intensive and preclude a 100% process monitoring. However, for this purpose acoustic sensors are inline capable. They allow for measuring the dispersing quality of fillers directly in the compounding process and in real-time. Innovative approach of the project is the application of these sensors in reflection setup. Thereby, a one-sided access to the process plant without a bypass can be realized. The project moreover aims to standardize the definition of dispersing quality since it does currently not exist consistently in plastic processing.
