A consortium of 37 companies from 5 countries collaborated on enhancing self-controlling factories within the SemI40 project. The collaborative research work lead to innovative methods and solutions for the implementation of Industry 4.0 applications. The project was led by Infineon Austria and had a budget of 62 million Euro. It was one of the largest Industry 4.0 related research projects within Europe. Institute ifak developed resource models and service specifications for the integration of legacy production equipment and evaluated the results by development and test of demonstrators. Specifications of VDI/VDE-GMA, ZVEI and platform Industry 4.0 had been considered and partially be prototypically implemented.
